Code-named Red Dog, version 3.0 of the customisable GUI will integrate Microsoft's Internet Explorer and viewers for charts, photographs and other images. The upgrade will be offered in Windows 3.x and Win95 iterations. The product will also be offered as a pre-installed option on Windows 95 itself.

Boosting the release will be close integration with CompuServe's SpryNet Internet service and Wow online service targeting 'newbies' and young users. CompuServe also plans to add more content services by the end of the year.

When all is said, if Microsoft produce the best product people will buy it and thats a good thing. If people have to buy their product because no one else can produce an alternative, only because interoperability protocols are kept secret, then thats a bad thing.
