Microsoft included support for JavaScript for the first time in the second beta release of Internet Explorer (IE) 3.0. Version 3.0 of IE uses the ActiveX Scripting interface to blend Visual Basic Script and Jscript, allowing developers to build Java applets using JavaScript.
