Quintec, a Microsoft Solutions Provider Partner, has sold about 20,000 licences to over 300 sites since 1993 and has been the exclusive country distributor for PC DOCS' flagship DOCS Open since 1994. Quintec also works in integrating workflow solutions and sells software tools for the Wang integration environment. No terms of the agreement were disclosed.

"At Quintec, we have created an infrastructure, including well-resourced channel partners and technical support capability for DOCS Open, similar to that in the U.S," said Andrew Lloyd Skinner, managing director of Quintec International. "In addition, we have been investigating the U.K. marketplace for CMS OPEN and have concluded that there is a tremendous opportunity which can be maximised by this relationship.''

When all is said, if Microsoft produce the best product people will buy it and thats a good thing. If people have to buy their product because no one else can produce an alternative, only because interoperability protocols are kept secret, then thats a bad thing.
