The Intellectual Property Office is to relaunch its website.

The IPO said the new site will come into operation on 1 December, 2008, and will include a number of improvements resulting from extensive user consultation.

Among them are a dedicated area for professional users, improved access to consultations and new interactive features to provide education and raise awareness of intellectual property issues.

It also has plans to introduce web-based toolkits and guides to help business make the best use of their ideas.

Sean Dennehey, assistant comptroller at the IPO, said: "A lot of work has gone into refreshing the website. We hope that business small and large, new and longstanding will find it much easier to get the information and guidance they are looking for."

The website address will be unchanged at http://www.ipo.gov.uk/.
