The release of Firefox 2.0 has been delayed until 24 October, with a Beta 2 release scheduled for 23 August, according to Mozilla.

The entire release schedule was shifted to deal with last-minute fixes. Some of the Firefox bugs still being addressed affect visual refresh, panel preferences, tab overflow, spell check and anti-phishing features, according to the Firefox 2.0 status meeting minutes.

A code freeze of Firefox 2.0 Beta 2 is set to begin on Wednesday at 11:59 pm PDT, with a testing period running from 17 to 22 August, according to the Mozilla Developer's Calendar. Firefox 2.0 was originally slated for a ship release of 15 August.

In the meantime, Mozilla has tentatively moved up the Firefox 1.5.0.7 update to 7 September. Firefox 2.0 Beta 1 for developers is currently available for free download.

We’re a small country with an internet penetration of less than 60%, for every Youtuber there’s someone who only uses the internet to check their emails, more people surf on their mobile handsets than a few years ago. Surely things should even themselves up.
