Sir Tim Berners-Lee, creator of the Web, got WWW06 off to a flying start with a speech in which he warned that massive change was ahead.

"We are in the embryonic stages of the Web from any point of view," said Sir Tim, comparing today's Web to early motor cars. "Maybe when the Model T came out people looked at it and thought that's what motor transport would look like."

I wonder, who needs .asia domain? I cannot imagine, what would be useful for Microsoft.asia? Toyota.asia? Then let's register .europe (if .eu is too short). Or perhaps Microsoft.southamerica, Dell.australiaandnewzealand, Coca-Cola.africa... Sound funny? Then why not just use the global and country domains? Or perhaps it is time to drop the domains at all?
