Legal blogger quits job

A US federal prosecutor has quit his job only a month after revealing he was the author of a blog about the federal judiciary.
In November, David Lat, an assistant US attorney in Newark, New Jersey, admitted to The New Yorker that he was the author of a blog called Underneath Their Robes. The blog, which is written from the perspective of a young, female lawyer, enthusiastically comments on quot;frivolous, non-substantive issues" such as judicial fashion and good-looking lawyers.
"Judge Roberts is lookin' super-hunky tonight, much younger than his 50 years," says one blog posting, which goes on to describe the Supreme Court judge as a "superhottie".
At the end of last week, Lat reportedly sent an email to colleagues at the US attorney's office, telling them he was leaving to work in Washington. Lat was unwilling to comment on his resignation, but the US attorney's office said the assistant attorney's departure had nothing to do with his blog, according to The Star-Ledger of Newark.
Although Lat appears to have left his job voluntarily, other bloggers have lost their job after writing information about their organisation or job role on a personal blog. For example, a Delta Air Lines flight attendant was fired after posting photos of herself in uniform on her blog, and a Waterstone's employee was sacked after he wrote a blog referring to his boss as 'evil' and his employer as "Bastardstone's".
