Judgements on suspected terrorists in the UK are to be published on a new Government website

The UK's appeals tribunal for suspected terrorists is to make its judgements available online, the Department for Constitutional Affairs (DCA) announced on 5 July 2004.

The tribunal, which usually hears most of its evidence in secret, is to publish details of its hearings on a new website following recommendations of an official review.

It is involved in high profile terrorism cases such as that of Abu Qatada, an influential Muslim radical alleged to be a key al-Qaida leader in Europe and jailed without trial. The site follows a service offered by the Home Office providing information on people detained under the 2001 Anti-Terrorism Act.

A DCA spokesperson told Government Computing News that the site -- known as the "outcomes database" -- will show the "full determinations of the tribunal" although some details will not be published for "reasons of national security."
