British talent shines in 2001 EMMA Awards shortlist

The 2001 International EMMA Awards has announced its shortlist of nominees, with a very strong representation of UK talent among the contenders for an award this year.
The BBC is shortlisted in seven categories, for various projects ranging from The Tweenies to Wimbledon Interactive. Peter Molyneux's Lionhead Studios is shortlisted in no less than five categories for its hit computer game Black & White.
The EMMA Awards is celebrating its tenth anniversary in 2001. The EMMA foundation is working hard, through its awards and other programmes, to promote excellence in multimedia. The Awards are distinctive because they recognise excellent work across several platforms: the Web, PC games, multimedia CD-ROMs, and interactive and enhanced TV.
Clare Rees, European marketing director for Macromedia and chair of the EMMA 2001 jury said, "We have consistently seen a growth in both the number of entries and the quality of entries received and this year has been no exception. What is most pleasing is that despite the current economic climate of the new media industry, there has still been a phenomenal response to the EMMAs and an unprecedented level of quality amongst the entries."
