News Burst: Web outages cost UK millions

Web site downtime cost UK businesses £128m last year and this figure is expected to double for 2001, according to a study released by Web services firm Hostmark on Monday.

The report indicates that Web site outages hurt retail Internet firms the most because customers are likely to turn to online competitors.

I wonder, who needs .asia domain? I cannot imagine, what would be useful for Microsoft.asia? Toyota.asia? Then let's register .europe (if .eu is too short). Or perhaps Microsoft.southamerica, Dell.australiaandnewzealand, Coca-Cola.africa... Sound funny? Then why not just use the global and country domains? Or perhaps it is time to drop the domains at all?
