News Burst: BT forced to provide cheap access

Telecoms watchdog Oftel has announced tough new measures that will force BT to provide other operators with a wholesale flat rate Internet access product from February 1st 2001. The watchdog says the announcement means cheaper unmetered services that will not suffer the undignified collapse of their trailblazing siblings earlier this year.

BT will be "required" to provide operators with the updated Friaco offering for £10 per month. Consumer services will be expected to cost around the same price as AOL's £14.99 a month package.

I wonder, who needs .asia domain? I cannot imagine, what would be useful for Microsoft.asia? Toyota.asia? Then let's register .europe (if .eu is too short). Or perhaps Microsoft.southamerica, Dell.australiaandnewzealand, Coca-Cola.africa... Sound funny? Then why not just use the global and country domains? Or perhaps it is time to drop the domains at all?
