Mobile operator One2One announced Monday a trial of next generation GPRS (General Packet Radio Switching) mobile communications in the south of England. The company plans to rollout commercial products in 2001.

It would give no precise launch date for the trial.

200 people will test the GPRS technology which provides an 'always on' connection to the Internet up to three times faster than today's phones.

BT Cellnet launched the UK's first GPRS service in June, for corporate customers.
