TakeU2.com is designed for the busy City executive type who doesn't have the time to organise his get-togethers -- for business or for pleasure. Whether it's a client lunch or a hot date with the Diet Coke man, TakeU2 organises a venue and arranges a time and a date, all automatically. It will even email your friends with directions and book taxis or tables in advance.

The interface for the site is simple and easy to navigate. At the home page, you're greeted with a London Underground map of Zone One. Only the major tube stations are represented at the moment, but the idea is that you click on the most convenient station for your venue, and are then taken to reviews of nearby restaurants and pubs. You could say it takes the 'Time Out' of looking at the London A-Z and flicking through Square Meal.

Although the site isn't yet fully functional (it's a bit short on pics and reviews at the moment), the idea has a lot of potential. The prices listed may be a bit off the mark -- £10 for a kebab from Tottenham Court Road? -- but generally the reviews seem well-researched and fair.

TakeU2 plans to extend the service to a dozen cities around the world via WAP and SMS and is fashioning a version of the service for PDAs.

The site: TakeU2.com
What it does: Arranges social activities so you don't have to
How it works: You choose the area in London where you want to go out and TakeU2 does the rest
Who it's for: Busy executive types on the move, Web geeks and the terminally lazy
Why the net? Takes interactivity to a whole new level
