BSkyB (quote: BSY) is expected next week to announce more than £200m of investments in online projects, according to reports in the financial press.

The announcement, which will likely come with the company's latest figures next week, follows Internet investments by publishing conglomerate Pearson (quote: PSON) totalling £250m.

BSkyB has so far played a sideline role on the Net, focusing instead on its Open interactive television service. It recently took a £10m, 5.4 percent stake in sports site Sportal and is expected to launch other deals.

I wonder, who needs .asia domain? I cannot imagine, what would be useful for Microsoft.asia? Toyota.asia? Then let's register .europe (if .eu is too short). Or perhaps Microsoft.southamerica, Dell.australiaandnewzealand, Coca-Cola.africa... Sound funny? Then why not just use the global and country domains? Or perhaps it is time to drop the domains at all?
