Vodafone launches Internet paging

This follows Wednesday's launch of the Vodafone Interactive mobile content service and a free ISP.

The service allows email messages to be sent to owners of the company's Flex pagers.

Messages can be sent from a PC using any standard email software by adding @paging.vodafone.net to the end of the pager number. Alternatively, messages can be sent from Vodfone's dedicated Web site. Messages are limited to 240 characters.

I wonder, who needs .asia domain? I cannot imagine, what would be useful for Microsoft.asia? Toyota.asia? Then let's register .europe (if .eu is too short). Or perhaps Microsoft.southamerica, Dell.australiaandnewzealand, Coca-Cola.africa... Sound funny? Then why not just use the global and country domains? Or perhaps it is time to drop the domains at all?
