Health in Focus, a Web site aimed at medical professionals, is launching in the next few weeks.

The site, www.healthinfocus.co.uk, will provide original editorial content, including a glossary of medical terms, and community features such as message boards. Free to access, the site is backed by professional medical associations such as the National Asthma Campaign and the British Lung Foundation.

The aim of the site, written by UK doctors is to provide trustworthy, independent information in the context of UK general practice medicine, and to "counteract the hype of the Internet". Such sites have already found popularity in the US.

Health in Focus is being built by medical print publisher Medicom.
