The BBC's commercial online arm, beeb.com, has relaunched with a new look for the Christmas season, focusing, not surprisingly, on shopping.

With the headline "Your starting point for shopping on the Web", the site lays out what it promises are hundreds of shopping choices under brand-name headings: Good Homes for house-buying and improving tips; TopGear for car buying information, Top of the Pops for music shopping pointers.

The site also includes a new Christmas-shopping section including gift tips -- mostly BBC books and video and audio recordings -- for 'him', 'her', kids and teens.

What do you think? Tell the Mailroom . And read what others have said.

See the e-commerce special for more business news.

I wonder, who needs .asia domain? I cannot imagine, what would be useful for Microsoft.asia? Toyota.asia? Then let's register .europe (if .eu is too short). Or perhaps Microsoft.southamerica, Dell.australiaandnewzealand, Coca-Cola.africa... Sound funny? Then why not just use the global and country domains? Or perhaps it is time to drop the domains at all?
