DJ Powell to launch pop Web site

The site -- worldpop.com -- is being touted as the "Reuters of pop". The site will go live in the New Year and is intended to provide up to the minute pop news, interviews and shopping for teenagers.

The site will also launch the first "global" pop chart with users able to vote for music they think should be top of the virtual pops. New bands will be given air time on the site. A spokeswoman for Worldpop believes the site will democratise pop. "With a world pop chart, songs that wouldn't normally get in the charts can be heard," she said.

I wonder, who needs .asia domain? I cannot imagine, what would be useful for Microsoft.asia? Toyota.asia? Then let's register .europe (if .eu is too short). Or perhaps Microsoft.southamerica, Dell.australiaandnewzealand, Coca-Cola.africa... Sound funny? Then why not just use the global and country domains? Or perhaps it is time to drop the domains at all?
