News Burst: Unmetered Internet access critical, says analyst

The report highlights the recent advent of the free ISP as a critical milestone for Internet business. IDC believes that the market now needs to continue to develop along these lines if consumer Internet commerce is to flourish.

Research manager James Eibisch claims that by providing value-added service such as online banking, shopping or trading, in addition to traditional advertising revenues, providers can ultimately offset end-user dial-up costs.
