Three world leaders backed NetAid with Prime Minister Tony Blair, US President Bill Clinton and ex South African President Nelson Mandela cutting the virtual ribbon by logging on to Web site first.

Created by Cisco Systems and the United Nations, the site aims to "use the Internet as a medium of social and economic change". NetAid's goal is to get one billion hits protesting about world poverty and from these generate donations of time, expertise, goods and money both online and offline.

Three overlapping NetAid concerts will be held on October 9 at Wembley Stadium in London, Giants Stadium in New York and the Palais des Nations in Geneva. Robbie Williams, Stereophonics and George Michael will be among artists performing at the London concert.

I wonder, who needs .asia domain? I cannot imagine, what would be useful for Microsoft.asia? Toyota.asia? Then let's register .europe (if .eu is too short). Or perhaps Microsoft.southamerica, Dell.australiaandnewzealand, Coca-Cola.africa... Sound funny? Then why not just use the global and country domains? Or perhaps it is time to drop the domains at all?
