Bowie marks another Internet first

It will be possible to download the new album on both Microsoft Audio 4.0 and Liquid Audio formats, but fans of MP3 will be disappointed that no provision has been made for them.
This is a pioneering move, as Bowie's Web site proudly states: "For the first time ever in the history of the music business, a major recording artist and a leading record company are joining with retail to bring a complete album to music fans via download from the Internet."
Bowie was also the first rock-legend to have his very own ISP when Bowienet went online in September 1998. He has also led the way in music Web-casting with a live Internet performance as early as September 1997.
Bowie's Web site has been posting teasing snippets of music from the forthcoming album as well as the cover artwork for a number of months. "hours..." will be available for download from September 24 and will go on sale to the less technologically-competent from October 4.
