Linux makes TV debut with new PIA

The PIA has been created by Thelinuxstore.com, a subsidiary EBIZ Enterprises Inc., which claims this could be the key to bringing the joys of Linux to the masses.
Costing $199 (£121) , the new machine will have a modest range of built-in applications, including Web browser and word processing packages. Because it uses the Linux operating system however around 50,000 other applications will be available for free or at a bargain price.
The last few days have been good to Linux disciples. Yesterday, Apple announced it is to develop an open-source, Linux compatible version of its Quicktime server. On Monday an IDC report concluded that by the year 2003 Linux will power 10% of Japanese servers.
