AOL resists free ISP trend

Despite the success of free Internet services like Freeserve, AOL remains sceptical the business model can work. "Free ISPs may be gathering lots of members, but there is no evidence they are gathering revenue," an AOL spokeswoman said.

In the last few weeks, both BT and Tesco joined the bandwagon and launched free Internet access services.

I wonder, who needs .asia domain? I cannot imagine, what would be useful for Microsoft.asia? Toyota.asia? Then let's register .europe (if .eu is too short). Or perhaps Microsoft.southamerica, Dell.australiaandnewzealand, Coca-Cola.africa... Sound funny? Then why not just use the global and country domains? Or perhaps it is time to drop the domains at all?
