Netscape will resell Marimba's Castanet Transmitter server software, said Marimba CEO and president Kim Polese, in a keynote address.

Netscape already bundles Marimba's Castanet tuner client software in its own Netcaster client software. Marimba's server software - which will be available through Netscape channels this month, will be sold as a separate offering, said Netscape officials in Mountain View, Calif.

In addition to expanding distribution channels, Marimba, of Palo Alto, Calif., is also working to expand its software beyond Java, said Polese. Version 2.0 of Castanet is now in beta, she said, with general availability to be announced in the next few weeks.

"Our focus is not on Java-only solutions. Our focus is on solving problems, whether that's dealing with extranet applications or productivity applications," she said.

I wonder, who needs .asia domain? I cannot imagine, what would be useful for Microsoft.asia? Toyota.asia? Then let's register .europe (if .eu is too short). Or perhaps Microsoft.southamerica, Dell.australiaandnewzealand, Coca-Cola.africa... Sound funny? Then why not just use the global and country domains? Or perhaps it is time to drop the domains at all?
