The 13-year-old service sacked Roland Perry, once a PCW development guru at Amstrad, following his payout to marketing staff made redundant in May, according to Perry's wife and former marketing director Jennifer Perry.

According to Jennifer Perry, CIX took exception to Roland's authorising payment to his wife of a three-month notice cheque even though this was in keeping with her contract and went through company accountants. Jennifer said the decision had left the couple "taken aback, surprised, dismayed".

A CIX spokesman confirmed the departure but declined to comment further. He said that financial director Sylvia Thornley would additionally take on the managing director's role.

CIX currently has about 15,000 subscribers, many of whom work in the hi-tech sector.
