Computacenter has re-affirmed its dominance of the UK reseller market announcing a 60 per cent increase in turnover for 1996 to 」804.5 million. Pre-tax profits increased by 166 per cent to 」40 million, compared with 」15 million in 1995.

Computacenter chief executive Mike Norris gave credit to "processor-hungry applications and the Internet," for driving the demand for more powerful computing as well as an increase in server sales. "The fact that one in every three desktop computers sold in the UK corporate market last year was supplied by Computacenter, puts our market penetration into perspective," he said.

I wonder, who needs .asia domain? I cannot imagine, what would be useful for Microsoft.asia? Toyota.asia? Then let's register .europe (if .eu is too short). Or perhaps Microsoft.southamerica, Dell.australiaandnewzealand, Coca-Cola.africa... Sound funny? Then why not just use the global and country domains? Or perhaps it is time to drop the domains at all?
