Progressive Networks will roll out a third version of its RealAudio Internet client/server sound software next week, saying the upgrade will provide high-quality stereo sound over ISDN and other links faster than 28,800bps modems, the previous ceiling.

RealAudio 3.0 will come with Player and Player Plus client software, Server and Encoder. The firm also said it had improved sound by revamping compression algorithms using Dolby Labs' DolbyNet which lets users select audio for the type of broadcast. A user could optimise reception for a voice interview or an orchestra, for instance. Reception over crowded lines is also improved.

The new version also lets users stream RealAudio files from any Web server without first buying a server licence. A beta is currently available for free downloading.

I wonder, who needs .asia domain? I cannot imagine, what would be useful for Microsoft.asia? Toyota.asia? Then let's register .europe (if .eu is too short). Or perhaps Microsoft.southamerica, Dell.australiaandnewzealand, Coca-Cola.africa... Sound funny? Then why not just use the global and country domains? Or perhaps it is time to drop the domains at all?
