Seybold DTP expo coming to Europe

Seybold Seminars has been a regular fixture for DTP and graphics specialists in the US since the 1970's but when the three-day show lands in Frankfurt, Germany on November 19-21, it will be the first time it has appeared on the continent from the same organiser. The show organiser is Softbank Expos, owner of Comdex, Interop+NetWorld and Ziff-Davis, publisher of PC Daily News.
A blend of products, conferences and seminars, Seybold will cover digital imaging, pre-press, Internet publishing and data management. About 130 exhibitors and 10,000 visitors are expected.
"Seybold Europe will be a big benefit to the European audience," said Gerhard Fleischer, marketing communications manager, Softbank Expos, Germany. "We won't just transfer US stuff; we'll look at the trends in Europe and act accordingly. For example, Web publishing is much more developed in the US. We can inform the European audience so they can plan their budgets accordingly."
Fleischer said Seybold Europe shouldn't be confused with the Paris show that was licensed under the Seybold name. "It wasn't good. It was a small regional show." He added that Germany will remain the home for Seybold Europe and there won't be additional shows in individual countries.
Adobe chairman John Warnock has been penciled in as a keynote speaker.

Seybold is a widely respected show and UK publishing experts should be grateful to save the price and time that was a result of having the show in the US. Add Comdex in the UK and we could even be talking about the beginnings of a decent European show schedule instead of the horrid porridge endured over the last five years.
