America Online has rebuffed critics, saying it expects a profitable quarter and to jump from its current 6.2 million to reach 10 million subscribers by mid-1997. However, the firm won't break down the contribution of its recently launched UK service, AOL.

The US-based company made the statements in the light of analysts' claims that proprietary online services would fall to the Internet. AOL's biggest online service rival CompuServe recently announced a loss for its most recent quarter, sparking fears in the financial community.

I wonder, who needs .asia domain? I cannot imagine, what would be useful for Microsoft.asia? Toyota.asia? Then let's register .europe (if .eu is too short). Or perhaps Microsoft.southamerica, Dell.australiaandnewzealand, Coca-Cola.africa... Sound funny? Then why not just use the global and country domains? Or perhaps it is time to drop the domains at all?
