CNET Networks UK award winner: BT Operate

The movement towards 'green IT' requires everyone's input and innovation, but large-scale schemes are also essential if the technology sector is going to become kinder to the environment.

One such scheme is BT Operate's 21st Century Network (21CN) Data Centre Project, the winner of this year's Green IT Initiative of the Year gong at the CNET Networks UK Business Technology Awards. The project aims to reduce the power consumption of the dozens of BT-run datacentres around the world, using virtualisation and new datacentre designs.
