Despite increasing demand for PCs in the market as a whole, Dell's UK sales have dropped, according to the latest statistics.

Dell sold 7.1 percent fewer PCs in the three months from April to June than it did one year earlier, analyst group Gartner said on Monday.

In contrast, total UK PC sales grew eight percent in the same period, driven by demand for notebook and home PCs.

Despite the slump, Dell remains the top PC vendor in the UK, with 24.5 percent of the market. HP retains the second slot, with 18.7 percent of the market and a 13.8 percent increase in sales.

Acer and Toshiba are third and fourth, with a year-on-year increase in sales of 48.2 percent and 43.4 percent respectively.
