Seagate Technology has begun selling notebook drives with the newer SATA, standard and has introduced higher-capacity models, the company announced on Monday.

SATA, which enables higher transfer speeds and simpler cabling, is replacing PATA in desktop computer hard drives and now is making its way to portable computers as well.

The Momentus 5400.2 has a capacity of 120GB, a new high for the company's notebook drives, and is available with either SATA or PATA interfaces. Seagate also brought SATA to its Momentus 7200.1 100GB and 80GB drives and introduced a higher-capacity 120GB Momentus 4200.2, available only in PATA.
