AMD launches new desktop Athlon 64s

AMD has introduced three new Socket 939 Athlon 64s, including the company's highest performance desktop processor yet, the Athlon 64 FX-53.
The new chips are designed to work with more inexpensive components and motherboards than earlier high performance devices: AMD also intends that Socket 939 will become the standard for desktop Athlon motherboards.
The new chips have dual-channel DDR memory controllers, AMD's Non-Execute (NX) antivirus memory protection and either 512KB or 1MB of level 2 cache. The company also launched a solitary Socket 754 Athlon 64 3700+, which is a single-channel memory controller 1MB cache device that works with existing motherboards.
