Nvidia has announced that it will make a new version of its nForce chipset, the nForce 415-D, available to motherboard manufacturers. This version of the nForce includes the premium audio features and 128-bit memory interface of the high-end nForce configuration, but does without the integrated graphics. The high performance systems that the high-end nForce is intended for generally come with a fast add-in graphics card that replaces the nForce's integrated graphics. The 415-D would be a more cost-effective option for such configurations. Without the additional cost of the nForce's integrated graphics, motherboards with the 415-D should come down to match the prices of boards based on Via's competing KT266A chipset.

Nvidia recently released a set of unified drivers for the nForce chipset for Windows 98 SE, ME, 2000, and XP. The new drivers can be downloaded from Nvidia's Web site.
