RealNetworks snags Intel deal

RealNetworks on Wednesday said it has signed an agreement with Intel to ship its technology with the chip giant's desktop boards.
Under the terms of the deal, RealNetworks' RealPlayer and RealJukebox software will be distributed with two new Intel PC desktop boards, D815EEA2 and D815EFV, which support the chipmaker's Pentium III and Celeron processors, the company said in a statement.
The deal comes as RealNetworks fights off rumours that it is losing friends in high places, such as AOL, and is losing ground in its heated online media streaming battle with Microsoft.
Wednesday's agreement marks the latest development in its relationship with Intel. Last year, the two companies announced a new version of Intel Streaming Web Video Software technology which is a significant piece to RealVideo 8 and RealSystem 8, the company said.
