News Burst: Serious problems with PS2s

Electronics giant Sony is being forced to replace "scores" of PlayStation2s (PS2s) for angry customers who had to pre-order the consoles months before Christmas.

The BBC consumer programme Watchdog will claim Friday that it has received over 60 calls from viewers whose PS2s either never worked, or broke down soon after purchase.

According to Watchdog -- whose spokesman fears the problem could run into hundreds of units -- one viewer who called the Sony helpline was told: "No need to go into details, we've had a few like that."

Sony claims to be aiming to replace faulty PS2s within two days.
