No deal? AMD would love to have the business, but company officials said this week that despite reports that it was close to a deal to sell chips to Dell Computer, there has been "no change" in the relationship between the two companies.

"We're always knocking on (Dell's) door. It would be nice to add (Dell's) business," an AMD spokesman said. However, he said he is unaware of a pending deal, even despite Dell's recent criticism of its main supplier Intel for parts shortages.

Dell also denied the reports, with a spokeswoman claiming Dell has "no announcement to make" on the matter and will not have one in the near future.

Matthew Broersma contributed to this report.
