News Burst: Cisco to upgrade Net backbone

Cisco Systems has confirmed plans for a phased rollout of the next-generation Internet protocol, which will add an effectively infinite address range and virtual private networks (VPNs), as well as quality of service and security features.

The company will implement the IPv6 protocol suite across its router products, in a move that is certain to be followed by other networking companies.
