News Burst: Vodafone launches WAP - but no handsets

The wireless industry has been hyping WAP technology as heralding the start of truly mobile data but the failure to deliver products and services may hinder its take up.

Vodafone, the third UK mobile network operator to launch a WAP service entered the market Thursday without an access terminal. Analysts have warned that delivering the technology, without the means to use it may harm the fledgling market.
