Japanese electronics giant NEC has launched a range of wafer thin speakers that double up as photo frames.

Available in translucent blue, green or orange, the flat panel speakers have a special adhesive allowing users to attach favourite photographs to them. No bigger than a postcard, the speakers are designed to be used with portable equipment such as CD and MD players and PCs. They provide between 0.5W+0.5W output when used with two AA-size batteries or 1.5W+1.5W of sound when used with an AC adapter. Battery life is approximately 30 hours.

NEC said the speakers are on sale only in Japan for now.
