Extend your artistic powers
You can obviously do loads of stuff with Adobe Photoshop, but if really want to extend your creative powers then you'll be after the latest and greatest plug-ins. MetaCreations has just announced its latest bundle of plug-in goodies, KPT6. These give you a whole host of new effects for Photoshop and compatible products such as Painter.
The first of six image filters is KPT Equaliser, which offers three sharpen filters to correct blurred images. KPT Goo lets you finger paint with images, KPT Projector allows you to add 2D perspective distortions to an image and add 3D transformations. KPT Gel gives you a set of 3D paint tools to synthesise a range of materials using environment mapping, lighting, reflection, refraction, tinting and transparency. KPT Materialiser creates dynamic surface textures, KPT LensFlare creates glows, halos and lens reflections, KPT Turbulence gives 2D wave distortions, and KPT Reaction means you can create organic textures.
And that's not all. You also get a couple of extra RAYflect plug-ins thrown in for good measure. KPT SceneBuilder gives you tools to create 3D scenes, with a render engine and texture editor. Finally, KPT SkyEffects offers tools to let you create stormy skies, sunsets, rainbows and other weather-style effects. Just what you've always wanted... maybe.
This bounteous box of tricks should be out by the end of the year for £109.99.
