Starting Tuesday Lastminute.com is auctioning 25 of the world's first WAP 1.1 mobile phones.

The auction is in association Orange and offers the Orange Nokia 7110e, which won't launch officially until next week. Evidently feeling guilty about exploiting all those orang-utans in its recent advertising campaign, Orange is donating the proceeds of the auction to the World Wildlife Fund.

The auction runs until Thursday and the minimum starting bid is £50; the highest bidders will own one of the first WAP phones in the UK.

Orange will be offering a full suite of WAP services, including news, sports, listings, travel and entertainment, with no price increase on users' monthly tariffs.
