Sequent is now a wholly-owned subsidiary of IBM and IBM has rights to market Numa-Q 1000 and 2000 servers under its name. Numa technology will also be integrated into IBM's other server families. One of Sequent's largest markets is the UK where its servers are popular in the City.

IBM has also said it plans to speed up development of Project Monterey, the plan for a converged Unix based on SCO Unix, IBM AIX and Sequent Dynix/ptx.

However, the IBM purchase has alarmed some Sequent users who fear that service and support may be diluted.
