The first WAP enabled phones from Philips will be out early next year, the company has announced.

The company has just completed a licensing deal with Phone.com to use its UP.Browser microbrowser. The microbrowser will allow owners of the new Philips phones to access Web-based information through Wireless Application Protocol.

Nokia and Ericsson have already announced WAP enabled phones, and Nokia will the first to market next month with the Nokia 7110.
