Committee calls for mobile phone health research

The British Science and Technology Committee, not satisfied with the government's own investigations into the implications on health from mobile phone use, has called for more in-depth research.
The House of Commons Report on Mobile Phones and Health, published Wednesday, showed that current research found no health hazards related to mobile use. However the Committee believes more research is needed because of "unreplicated scientific" and anecdotal evidence that suggest dangers exist.
The Committee also criticised the government's own research programme. It said that although it viewed the government's decision to establish a new Expert Group on Mobile Phones as a necessary measure, it was only a temporary solution. In the long term the committee called for the government to increase funding and resources to the Advisory Group on Non-Ionising Radiation to ensure "constant vigilance".
