Injunction against PlayStation emulator denied

A US judge has denied Sony an injunction to prevent sales of an emulator that allows PlayStation games to be played on Windows based PCs. This is the second blow for Sony in the ongoing case against software company Bleem. In April a court turned down its request for a restraining order on shipments.
Also heartening for Bleem is the fact that it was at this stage that Connectix lost the fight to continue shipping its Virtual Game Station PlayStation emulator for Macs. Connectix is currently appealing against the ruling, while continuing development work on both the existing PC version and the planned Mac version of the emulator.
In both cases Sony is claiming copyright infringement and violation of trade secrets. The result of the latest skirmish means that Bleem will be able to continue to develop, ship and sell the software in the run up to the trial, which has been set for April 24 2000.
