Digital fiddling... Ooooer

Konica's update for the Q-M100 digital camera is the 2.11 million pixel Q-M200. Konica has doubled the shutter release speed from two frames a second (main criticism of the Q-M100) to four with a combination of the CCD autofocus and infrared active autofocus mechanism.

The shooting modes include text mode for black and white images, sports mode for capturing moving objects, infinity mode for shooting scenery and macro mode for 10-30cm close-ups. Four-frame continuous shooting means you can take four pictures with one shutter release -- try doing that with a disposable!

Photos are adjustable too -- white balance, sharpness, saturation, you can fiddle with them all. You can even adjust the shutter speed up to 2 seconds, and there's a 2x digital zoom -- both unusual with digital cameras. Other controls, all set with the select dial, include superfine, fine, basic and economy resolution modes. There's a built in autoflash with redeye reduction, video outputs to connect to your TV and, a 1.8-inch colour LCD monitor with zoom playback and scrolling functions. You also get an 8MB Compact Flash card which fits up to 20 images in fine mode.

In the shops now for £549.99.
