Intel releases first 0.18-micron-process chips

PC chip maker Intel Corp. introduced on Monday two chips created using its next-generation manufacturing process, which promises to reduce the size of its chips. It shipped a mobile Pentium II and its Celeron processors at 400 MHz, both created with a 0.18-micron process technology. Within three quarters, the company expects to have all its processors made using the same process.
