Following last week's revelation by Corel that it is working with Wine to bring all Windows applications to a desktop version of Linux, Occleshaw dismissed the plans citing his own company's experience with emulation software: "Corel said all this when they were porting all their applications to Java which fell on its bottom. Wine sitting on Linux running Windows applications is just too complex."

Occleshaw said software houses should not be tempted to "port over the evils of Windows to Linux, rather they run things natively".

Take me to the Linux Lounge.
