Nuggets is a daily update on the latest software and hardware releases provided by our very own gadget man, Mr Justin Pearse. At the end of the month we will provide a roundup of our favourites which you could win in our monthly Nuggets competition.

Heard a rumour about a plan for a new gadget or software? Seen a device on your travels you'd like to know more about? Tell 'Nuggets' and we'll get you the facts.

Mobile office... OK Ya!

Now shipping from PPCP is Ericsson's new Mobile Office GC25 data card. The Type III PC card has its own SIM card which means you won't have your mobile tied up for long even if you are downloading mail from the Web from the back of a cab!

The card comes with a hands-free microphone and earpiece allowing voice calls -- though seeing as the whole point of this is to keep your mobile free I don't think this is much of a selling point. A minor drawback is that the card only supports Windows 95. Available now at £255.

Big, bright and reasonable too...

If you like your monitor screens big, bright and colourful you'll probably want to have a look at Sony's new Multiscan 420GS. It uses the tried and trusted Trinitron technology which, according to Sony, gives a bright, clear display -- with resolutions up to 1600 X 1200. At 19"you won't miss much either. The footprint is the same as a standard 17" CRT and it has 2 VGA ports, one at the front and the other at the rear, which is useful for connecting to a notebook. All the standard features are present, such as colour, brightness and contrast control and horizontal and vertical adjustment. Available now for a reasonable £449 exc VAT.
